Former chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Dr Sam Amadi, has warned political actors not to underestimate President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election, insisting the president is prepared to “fight dirty” against opponents who come at him the same way.
Amadi issued the caution on Wednesday through a post on X, where he criticised those encouraging young politicians to challenge the president without considering the political risks.
According to him, Tinubu “is not clean” but remains an unrelenting political fighter who responds with equal force when provoked. He argued that only Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has the moral strength and credibility to survive what he described as an impending political “hurricane”.
“Those who are promising the youths that they can fight Tinubu with dirty dress should take note. Tinubu is not clean; but he will fight you dirty once you are dirty and fighting him,” Amadi wrote.
“Only @PeterObi will survive the coming hurricane because his clothes are not dirty,” he added.
Amadi’s comments surfaced as former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, reportedly spent a second night in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over investigations involving alleged terrorism financing, money laundering and abuse of office — developments he suggested could further reshape the political terrain ahead of 2027.
