I Come With 10,000 Spirits – Yul Edochie Justifies N20M Appearance Fee With Ancestral Swagger

Yul Edochie has triggered a storm online after revealing that his N20 million appearance fee isn’t just for his presence—but for a dramatic spiritual procession involving “ten thousand spirits” and the ancestral might of Nteje and Umudioka.

The controversial Nollywood actor made the disclosure on his verified Instagram page on Monday, June 16, 2025, shortly after attending the burial ceremony of Barrister Tochukwu Nweke (SAN)’s father in Nsugbe, Anambra State. Dressed regally in all-white traditional attire, Edochie said his appearance was not ordinary, stressing that his fee reflects more than fame—it carries ancestral weight.

Declaring himself “EZEDIKE 1 na Nteje Aborgu” and “ISI MMILI JI OFOR 1 of Igbo Land,” Edochie noted that when he steps into an event, his presence is symbolic, spiritual, and deeply cultural. “I do not come alone,” he wrote. “I come with all my ancestors and ten thousand spirits from Nteje & Umudioka.” The post has since gone viral, generating mixed reactions from fans and critics.

While some followers applauded his flamboyant spiritual expression, others mocked the claim, calling it part of his ongoing theatrics. Still, Edochie stood firm in his spiritual identity, suggesting that appearances are not mere entertainment but rituals of representation tied to his heritage and kingship claims.

The N20 million price tag places him among Nigeria’s highest-paid celebrities for event appearances, rivalling even music superstars. In 2024, Davido reportedly charged between N40 to N60 million for high-profile weddings, while Wizkid’s private show rate was pegged at $500,000 globally. Yul’s fee is now drawing fresh attention to the monetization of public presence among Nollywood elites.

This isn’t Edochie’s first brush with controversy. The actor, who made headlines in 2022 for marrying a second wife, has since leaned into his identity as a spiritual figure and traditionalist. His online sermons, declarations of divine calling, and new church “The Salvation Ministry of Light” continue to stir both admiration and ridicule.

Whether Yul’s fee is justified or exaggerated, one thing is clear—he has mastered the art of conversation. And in today’s attention economy, that may be worth more than gold.
