Bandits Abduct Two, Injure Three in Fresh Attack on Katsina Villages

Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA, backed by the Police and Community Watch Corps, have repelled a bandits’ attack on two villages in Dutsinma Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama confirmed the incident in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, revealing that the attack occurred in the early hours of Tuesday at Gago and Ruwan Dorawa villages.

During the raid, the assailants abducted two villagers identified as Labaran Jalli (35) and Umma Sabon Gero (30). Three others—Labiru Umaru, a farmer, and two vigilante members, Abba Mohammed and Suleman Shuaibu—sustained gunshot wounds.

Troops and local vigilantes reportedly engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle, forcing them to retreat into nearby forests. The injured were later taken to General Hospital, Dutsinma, for treatment.

Authorities say security patrols have since been intensified in the affected communities, while efforts are ongoing to track down the attackers and rescue the kidnapped victims.

The latest incident underscores the persistent security challenges facing rural Katsina, where armed groups have continued to stage abductions, killings, and raids despite ongoing military operations.
