Kenneth Okonkwo: ‘I Have No Personal Rift With Peter Obi’

Veteran Nollywood actor and politician Kenneth Okonkwo has dismissed claims of a fallout with Labour Party’s 2027 presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Friday, Okonkwo clarified that his political choices should not be mistaken for personal animosity.

“I don’t have any personal problem with my brother Peter Obi,” he said. “Whoever wins the ADC presidential primary, I will support. Like I have told you, I met Peter Obi in Labour Party. So if the Labour Party that was the foundation of our relationship is no longer there, going forth will be a new arrangement and you have the right to decide what to do.”

The actor-turned-politician, who was a strong supporter of Obi during the 2023 elections, noted that politics is fluid and relationships shift depending on party platforms. He stressed that his respect for Obi remains intact, despite their different political paths.

Okonkwo’s remarks come amid speculations about strained relations between him and Obi following his move to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
