Former Imo State Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere, has joined the growing chorus of voices demanding the swift release of Hon. Ngozi Ogbu, the former lawmaker abducted last week by suspected bandits.
In a statement issued in Owerri, Madumere described Ogbu’s ordeal as both heartbreaking and symbolic of the rising insecurity in the state. A viral video circulating online confirmed that Ogbu, a former member of the Imo State House of Assembly, was taken captive by his abductors.
Madumere expressed deep concern that Ogbu’s family is enduring double tragedy, as his late mother’s remains still lie in the morgue awaiting burial.
“We must continue to pray for God’s supernatural intervention on behalf of our brother, Hon. Ogbu, for a speedy release,” Madumere said. “At the same time, I call on security agencies to work tirelessly to secure his freedom. With God on our side, victory is assured.”
The former deputy governor emphasized that the spate of abductions—targeting both prominent figures and ordinary citizens—underscores the urgent need for unity, vigilance, and collective action against crime.
He urged residents to remain steadfast in prayers while offering full support to security agencies in their mission to tackle kidnapping and other forms of criminality.
“Let us continuously pray to God and support our security personnel as they strive to retrieve our brother, Hon. Ogbu, and all other abducted individuals back to their families,” Madumere added.
He further appealed for earnest prayers for all victims of abduction, declaring that Imo’s healing and safety depend on the combined efforts of government, security agencies, and citizens.
“Imo belongs to us, and we must all join hands through the journey of grace to make it better. A new Imo is possible,” he concluded.
