INEC disowns fake recruitment advert, warns Nigerians against fraudsters

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued a strong warning to Nigerians over a fake recruitment advertisement currently circulating on social media.

A statement released on Wednesday clarified that the Commission is not conducting any recruitment exercise and urged citizens to ignore the fraudulent notice, which directs applicants to a fake website, inecrecruitment.com.

“The impostor behind this illicit recruitment exercise also asked would-be respondents to log on to an equally fake portal – www.inecrecruitment.com to complete their applications. But INEC does not have any such portal,” the Commission stated.

INEC described the advert as the work of criminal elements seeking to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.

“The Commission is not recruiting. We urge the public not to fall victim to the antics of these impostors,” it added.

The electoral body further advised Nigerians to rely only on its official website and verified social media handles for credible information regarding recruitment and other activities.
