Warns fraudsters are impersonating him to solicit money
Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli has warned his constituents to be on high alert after fraudsters created a fake Facebook account in his name to deceive unsuspecting members of the public.
Alli, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District under the All Progressives Congress (APC), raised the alarm in a statement released by his media office and made available to journalists on Sunday.
The lawmaker stressed that he does not conduct financial transactions, seek personal details, or request business engagements through social media platforms.
“We strongly advise the public not to engage in any transaction or communication with anyone on Facebook, Messenger, or any similar channels, claiming to represent Senator Alli,” the statement read.
“The Senator does not solicit funds, personal details, or business dealings through social media. Anyone who has information about the impostor is kindly urged to report to the nearest police station for necessary action.”
The senator urged residents of Oyo South and beyond to exercise vigilance, warning that cybercriminals are increasingly using impersonation tactics to target unsuspecting individuals online.
