Tambuwal Looted Assets, Left Sokoto With Abandoned Projects – APC Chairman

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State has launched a scathing attack on former governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, accusing him of leaving behind a trail of abandoned projects and mismanaged public funds.

State APC chairman, Alhaji Isa Sadiq Achida, told journalists on Monday that Tambuwal deliberately avoided a formal handover to Governor Ahmed Aliyu in 2023 to escape accountability for what he described as the poor state of governance.

According to Achida, the refusal was part of a calculated attempt to frustrate the new administration.

“Since his assumption of office, Governor Ahmed Aliyu has demonstrated prudent financial management. Salaries are now paid on or before the 21st of every month, the new minimum wage has been implemented, and major development projects are ongoing—all without borrowing,” Achida said.

He further accused Tambuwal of prioritising personal and political interests over the welfare of the people, contrasting this with Aliyu’s “commitment to service rather than looting.”

On Tambuwal’s political future, Achida claimed the former governor lacked a strong independent base, arguing that he rose to power largely due to the influence of political godfathers, especially Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko.

“Tambuwal is politically retired,” Achida declared, dismissing any chances of the former governor contesting future governorship or senatorial elections.

A former member of Tambuwal’s cabinet, however, told reporters that an official response would be issued in due course.
