Kano Tragedy: Man, 30, Arrested for Allegedly Stabbing Grandparents to Death Over Food Dispute

Police in Kano State have arrested a 30-year-old man accused of stabbing his grandparents to death during a heated argument over food.

The suspect, identified as Mutawakilu Ibrahim, allegedly attacked his grandfather, Muhammad Dansokoto (75), and grandmother, Hadiza Tasidi (65), with a knife on Thursday morning at their home in Kofar Dawanau Quarters.

According to police spokesperson Abdullahi Haruna, the victims sustained multiple deep wounds and were rushed to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, where doctors confirmed them dead. Their bodies have since been released to relatives for burial under Islamic rites.

Haruna said preliminary investigations suggest the suspect may have been under the influence of intoxicants at the time of the attack.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has ordered the case to be transferred to the State CID Homicide Section for discreet investigation,” the statement read.

The suspect remains in custody and is expected to face charges in court once investigations are concluded.

The shocking incident has sent ripples across Kano, raising fresh concerns about drug abuse, domestic disputes, and rising cases of violent crime within families.
