Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has pledged that Abuja will stand shoulder to shoulder with some of the world’s most developed cities before the end of President Bola Tinubu’s first term in office.
Speaking at the flag-off of the construction of Arterial Road N20 (Solomon Lar Way) linking Obafemi Awolowo Way to the Airport Expressway, Wike said the ongoing transformation of the capital aligns with Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The minister assured residents that no sector of Abuja would be neglected under his leadership.
“Now that you have moved to site, remain on the site until the job is completed,” Wike told contractors. “All of us can see that under the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President, the narrative has changed. By the grace of God, before the first tenure of Mr President, Abuja will compete with most cities in the world.”
Wike stressed that development efforts will not be restricted to the city centre alone but will also extend to satellite towns and other underserved communities.
He added that projects have already expanded into the health sector, reinforcing his commitment that “no sector will be left untouched.”
With the new road project and other infrastructure plans underway, Wike insists Abuja is on track to emerge as a modern, competitive global capital.
