Former Minister of Information and Orientation, Professor Jerry Gana, has declared that ex-President Goodluck Jonathan will contest the 2027 presidential election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Gana, speaking with journalists in Minna, Niger State, said Nigerians were now demanding Jonathan’s return to Aso Rock after experiencing governance under two different presidents since he left office in 2015.
“After him, another President ruled for eight years, and now another has ruled for two years,” Gana explained. “Nigerians have seen the difference, and the difference is very clear. Nigerians are now asking us to bring back our friend, former President Goodluck Jonathan.”
He recalled Jonathan’s famous 2015 remark that “his ambition was not worth the blood of Nigerians,” stressing that the former leader’s humility and democratic spirit had endeared him to many citizens who now wanted him back.
“I can confirm that Goodluck Ebele Jonathan will contest the presidential election in 2027 as the PDP candidate, and we should be prepared to vote for him to return as President again,” Gana declared.
If confirmed, Jonathan’s candidacy would mark one of the most dramatic political comebacks in Nigeria’s history, potentially setting the stage for a fierce contest against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and other emerging forces ahead of 2027.
