Abuja–Kaduna train: Online ticketing resumes ahead of October 1 restart

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has reopened its online ticketing platform for passengers on the Abuja–Kaduna train service as operations prepare to resume on 1 October.

Chief Public Relations Officer of the NRC, Callistus Unyimadu, confirmed the development on Tuesday, urging travellers to secure their tickets in advance to ease the return of one of Nigeria’s busiest train routes.

Mr Unyimadu also revealed that the journey time has been reduced after a review of the Temporary Speed Restriction (TSR), a move aimed at improving efficiency and safety.

Under the new timetable, departures will run as follows:

  • Abuja–Kaduna: Idu station, 8:45 a.m.; Kubwa, 9:10 a.m.; Rigasa arrival, 11:47 a.m.
  • Kaduna–Abuja: Rigasa departure, 2:30 p.m.; Kubwa, 5:12 p.m.; Idu arrival, 5:32 p.m.

He thanked passengers for their patience during the suspension of services and assured the public that safety, comfort, and customer satisfaction remain the NRC’s top priorities.

The Abuja–Kaduna line, a critical link for travellers and commuters, had been under suspension while the corporation carried out technical, operational, and safety checks.
