‘Funke Akindele Is My Number One Mentor’ — BBNaija Winner Imisi Speaks on Dreams, Fame and Future

Fresh off her ₦150 million Big Brother Naija Season 10 victory, Opeyemi Ayanwale, popularly known as Imisi, has named celebrated filmmaker and actress Funke Akindele as her biggest mentor and dream collaborator in Nollywood.

The 23-year-old reality TV star, who captured millions of viewers with her vibrant personality and acting flair, made the revelation during her prize presentation ceremony in Lagos, where she also received an SUV alongside her cash prize.

‘I’m ready to take on Nollywood’

Imisi said her experience in the Big Brother house reignited her passion for acting and storytelling, noting that her fellow housemates often praised her natural talent.

“People saw my acting side while I was in the house. Even my fellow housemates said I’m a natural actress. I’m ready to do more,” she said.

“Funke Akindele is my number one mentor. I really hope to work with her one day. I also admire Bimbo Ademoye and Bolaji Ogunmola — they inspire me a lot.”

On fame, support and future goals

Speaking about her victory, Imisi described the feeling as “overwhelming,” admitting that she is still processing the immense love and support from fans across Nigeria.

When asked about claims that ethnic loyalty influenced her win, she responded with candour:

“Maybe. Yoruba people are very supportive of their own, so that might’ve played a role. But honestly, I believe people connected with my realness and vulnerability.”

The reality star also extended heartfelt appreciation to her Celestial Church community, acknowledging their prayers and encouragement during her time in the house.

“Fame is new to me, but I’m ready to learn and grow. I’ll seek mentorship and be intentional about my next steps,” she concluded.

As Imisi embarks on her post-BBNaija journey, many fans and industry watchers anticipate her debut on the big screen — possibly alongside her idol, Funke Akindele.
