‘I could have died in June’ — Adesua Etomi recounts terrifying health ordeal and unplanned surgery

Nollywood actress Adesua Etomi-Wellington has opened up about a near-death experience that almost claimed her life during a trip to the United Kingdom earlier this year.

The award-winning star shared the emotional revelation in a heartfelt Instagram post, recalling how a sudden medical emergency led to an unplanned surgery in June — an experience she described as “horrific” and life-changing.

“I could have lost my life in June,” she wrote. “What I went through was horrific and ended with an unplanned surgery. Strangely, the surgery itself was the least dramatic part of it all.”

According to Adesua, the incident occurred while she was in the UK for two speaking engagements alongside her husband, Banky W, and their two sons.

She attributed her survival to divine intervention, saying that every detail of that day fell perfectly into place to save her life.

“If even one single detail had been different, I wouldn’t be here today. When I think about it, I shudder,” she revealed.

The Sugar Rush actress said the experience deepened her faith and renewed her sense of gratitude, affirming her belief in God’s power.

“There’s nothing anyone can tell me — God is real,” she declared.

Encouraging her followers to value life and live with compassion, Adesua added:

“Let’s choose to be softer, kinder, gentler, forgiving, patient, loving, and peaceful. I’ll never take another day for granted — neither should you.”

Her revelation has since drawn waves of support and prayers from fans and colleagues across the entertainment industry, many expressing gratitude for her recovery and renewed faith.
