Police arrest nine suspected armed robbers linked to violent attacks in Kano, Kaduna, and Abuja

The Kano State Police Command has arrested nine suspected armed robbers accused of terrorising residents across Kano, Kaduna, and Abuja, recovering several weapons during the operation.

Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori disclosed the arrests during a press briefing on Monday, revealing that the suspects — all aged between 17 and 24 — were apprehended following a violent robbery on October 8 at Unguwar Wambai in Dorayi Babba Quarters, Kano.

Bakori said the gang confessed to participating in a series of robberies within and outside the state, including a recent attack at Unguwar Jakada.

Recovered items include a double-barrel gun, an English Falcon pistol, a scrapped Phoenix pistol, cutlasses, and an iron cutter allegedly used during their operations.

“The suspects have made confessional statements and will be charged to court once investigations are concluded,” the police commissioner stated.

He added that security operatives are intensifying efforts to recover additional stolen property and apprehend other accomplices still at large.

The arrests mark a significant breakthrough in the command’s ongoing campaign against armed robbery and youth-related crimes in northern Nigeria.
