Police Arrest Three Suspected Drug Dealers in Major Jigawa Crackdown

Police in Jigawa State have arrested three suspected drug dealers in one of the state’s largest anti-narcotics operations in recent times.

The arrests followed coordinated, intelligence-led raids carried out on 18 October in Garki, Fagam, and Maigatari, according to a statement by police spokesperson SP Shiisu Lawan on Tuesday in Dutse.

Lawan said the operation targeted individuals who had long been on the command’s wanted list for their alleged roles in the distribution of illicit substances across the state.

During the raids, police seized 23,944 packs of hard drugs, a haul authorities described as one of the most significant in Jigawa’s history.

Two of the suspects are from Kano State and Niger Republic, while the third is from Jigawa.

“This significant seizure underscores our determination to rid communities of dangerous substances that continue to destroy lives, especially among young people,” Lawan stated.

He added that the suspects would be charged to court upon completion of investigations.

The Jigawa State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to proactive, intelligence-driven operations aimed at safeguarding lives and ensuring a drug-free society.
