The Lagos chapter of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, has declared its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was announced by Chief Sunday Udeh, President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, during a reconciliation parley organized by Dr Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran (Jandor), Lead Visioner of the Lagos4Lagos Movement, in Lagos.

The meeting focused on rebuilding trust and fostering unity between the Igbo and Yoruba communities following recent tensions over demolitions and political misunderstandings in the state.

Chief Udeh described President Tinubu as an “experienced and capable leader” who has shown commitment to governance despite Nigeria’s economic challenges.

“We are not in doubt of his victory in 2027. We know our party, the APC, will win again,” he said.

He urged both ethnic groups to promote peace and mutual respect while calling on the Lagos State Government to continue engaging with the Igbo community to strengthen inclusiveness and understanding.

Also speaking, Deacon Charles Obih, National President of the Market Leaders Association of Nigeria (TMLAN), pledged the support of the Igbo business community for Tinubu’s second-term ambition.

“We will mobilize our members to ensure President Tinubu’s re-election is smooth and successful. If God had not brought a man like him, we don’t know where this country would be today,” Obih said.

On his part, Dr Okey Anorue, Eze Ndigbo of Igbogbo/Bayeku and Babaloja of Tejuosho Market, called for stronger unity between the Igbo and Yoruba communities.

He advised Igbos in Lagos to reject divisive political rhetoric, saying:

“The Yoruba are our hosts, and we must respect their culture. When in Rome, behave like the Romans.”

The leaders agreed to maintain dialogue and cooperation as the 2027 election season approaches, emphasizing peace and ethnic harmony as key to Lagos’ continued development.
