Samuel Akingboye, eldest son of the late Ondo State governorship aspirant and businessman Otunba Bamidele Akingboye (OBA), has accused the Lagos State Police Command of concealing his father’s autopsy results.
In a statement obtained by DAILY POST on Thursday, Samuel questioned the motives of Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, claiming that the police shared the autopsy findings with his stepmother without including him, even though he is the complainant in the case.
Samuel alleged that CCTV footage points to his father’s death being a murder, describing the handling of the investigation as “an attempt to dilute or divert” the case. He further accused his stepmother and her children of attempting to sell their late father’s properties amid the ongoing police probe.
“I have received indirect and direct death threats from my stepmother, her younger brother, and her children owing to my pursuit of truth over my father’s death. I am making a public appeal for support, protection, and intervention from Nigerians, institutions, and human rights defenders,” Samuel said.
He explained that the police invited him after already briefing the opposing side, raising concerns about unequal access to information. “The rationale behind this approach remains a mystery, in that I had the impression both parties should have been briefed simultaneously,” he added.
Samuel urged the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and the general public to intervene, demanding transparency in releasing the autopsy results and post-mortem findings.
“The CCTV footage and post-mortem reportedly point to violent circumstances surrounding my father’s death, suggesting an obvious case of murder. If there is nothing to conceal, these findings must be released immediately,” he said, highlighting the emotional, financial, and psychological toll the case has taken on him.
The allegations have intensified concerns over the investigation into the death of a prominent political figure and the transparency of the Lagos State Police’s handling of sensitive cases.
