Yobe Police Launch Manhunt After 16-Year-Old Girl Found Raped and Murdered in Gashu’a

Shock and outrage have gripped Gashu’a town in Yobe State after a 16-year-old girl was discovered dead with her throat slit, prompting the police to open a full-scale hunt for her killers.

The victim, identified as Sadiya Suleiman from Sabon Gari Ward, was found near the New Prison Fence on Sunday morning. A community leader, Mai Anguwa Idris Haruna of Dadin Kowa Ward, alerted authorities after coming across the horrifying scene.

Yobe Police Command spokesperson, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed that detectives responded immediately and moved the girl to the Specialist Hospital in Gashu’a. Medical personnel later determined she had been raped and violently attacked before being murdered.

The Command said investigations are underway to identify and arrest those responsible for what it described as a “heinous and heartbreaking crime.”
Residents have been urged to share any information that could support the probe and ensure the suspects are quickly apprehended.

Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, condemned the killing as “barbaric, unacceptable, and deeply disturbing,” pledging that every available resource will be deployed to bring the culprits to justice.
