A viral video showing social media personality Martins Otse (Verydarkman) and comedian Freedom Atsepoyi (Mr Jollof) physically clashing during a commercial flight has drawn the attention of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
The two entertainers, who have a history of heated exchanges online—including previous personal attacks involving Mr Jollof’s wife—were caught on camera exchanging blows on board. The video, which circulated widely on Monday, has sparked public outrage and calls for accountability.
NCAA response
Michael Achimugu, NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, addressed the incident via X (formerly Twitter), urging the public to provide the airline name and the date of the flight to aid the agency’s investigation. He stated, “If you are kind enough to provide the name of the airline in whose aircraft this incident occurred, and the date, it would help investigations.”
The authority has warned that both VDM and Mr Jollof could face sanctions, including fines and bans from flying, if found guilty of breaching aviation regulations.
The incident underscores growing concerns about passenger safety and in-flight conduct in Nigeria’s aviation sector, particularly involving high-profile individuals.
