D’banj reveals Don Jazzy suggested Mo’Hits split, insists he holds no grudges

Popular Nigerian singer D’banj has opened up about the 2012 breakup of Mo’Hits Records, claiming that it was Don Jazzy, his former music partner and ace producer, who initiated the split.

The revelation came during a recent episode of the Mic On podcast, hosted by Seun Okinbaloye, where D’banj reflected on the reasons behind their separation and the legacy of their collaboration.

“If I were to go back in time, I wouldn’t have done anything differently regarding my relationship with Don Jazzy, especially when the idea to go our separate ways didn’t come from me. It came from Don Jazzy 100 per cent. And that’s why we have no issue,” D’banj said.

He added that Don Jazzy handed him 100 per cent of his catalogue, along with about ten unreleased songs, highlighting the professional and amicable nature of their split. “It was a journey for me. Even though he had his opinion, I knew that we needed to cement that global movement, and I’m glad that even after, God still did it for us with ‘Oliver Twist’, which was the last record we released together,” he explained.

D’banj stressed that he holds no regrets over the parting of ways, acknowledging that their split seemed predestined, although he admitted to missing collaborations with Don Jazzy.
