Anyanwu Accuses PDP Governors of Fueling Party’s Internal Crisis

A fresh wave of controversy has hit the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as its expelled National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, has publicly accused PDP governors of driving the turmoil threatening the party’s stability.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, the former Imo governorship candidate distanced himself from the blame often placed on him, insisting that the PDP Governors’ Forum is at the heart of the escalating crisis.

“The truth of the matter is that I will hold the Governors’ Forum responsible for whatever is happening to the party today,” he said, stressing that he would not accept responsibility for the party’s internal troubles.

Anyanwu argued that many of the party’s foundational figures had either withdrawn or become inactive due to the worsening state of affairs. He further revealed that PDP governors had previously pushed for an amendment to the party’s constitution to formally recognise the Governors’ Forum as an official organ of the party — a move he believes has contributed to instability rather than cohesion.

The senator’s remarks add another layer to the PDP’s already strained leadership structure, intensifying national conversations around accountability, internal democracy, and the future direction of the opposition party.
