Ogun Motorcyclist Arrested After Allegedly Killing Wife and Transporting Her Body in Sack

Police in Ogun State have arrested a commercial motorcyclist accused of murdering his wife and attempting to flee their community with her body concealed in a sack tied to his motorcycle.

The suspect, identified as Godonu Lowe, was intercepted on Wednesday during a routine stop-and-search operation in the Ilaro area. Officers grew suspicious after noticing the unusually heavy sack secured to the back of his bike.

According to the Ogun State Police Command, the discovery was made following credible intelligence relayed to the Divisional Police Officer in Ilaro. The sack was opened at the scene, revealing the body of an adult woman later confirmed to be Lowe’s wife.

Police spokesperson Omolola Odutola said the remains showed clear signs of violence, including wounds around the neck. A blood-stained cutlass believed to have been used in the attack was recovered from the suspect’s home.

“The content was discovered to be the corpse of an adult female, later identified as his wife,” Odutola said. “The body bore marks of violence, bleeding around the neck, suggesting foul play.”

Lowe was immediately taken into custody, while the victim’s body was transported to the state morgue in Ilaro for preservation and autopsy.

The Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, praised the anonymous informant whose tip-off led to the arrest. He urged residents to report suspicious activity promptly, stressing that timely information remains vital to preventing violent crimes.
