Bello Turji’s Fighters Raid Sokoto Community, Kill Two and Abduct 11 in Overnight Attack

Gunmen linked to infamous bandit leader Bello Turji launched a deadly assault on Kurawa community in Sabon-Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State on Wednesday night, killing two residents and abducting 11 others, including ten women.

The attack, confirmed by conflict journalist Bakatsine in a post on X, is the latest in an unending cycle of violence tormenting Sokoto East Senatorial District. Two additional residents were reportedly injured during the raid.

According to the journalist, communities in the region have come under near-daily attacks from armed groups aligned with Turji’s network, leaving residents traumatised and authorities struggling to contain the escalating insecurity.

He wrote: “Last night, armed bandits loyal to Bello Turji stormed Kurawa community in Sabon-Birni LGA of Sokoto State, killing two people. They also injured two people and abducted 11 people (1 man and 10 women). Communities remain trapped in a cycle of fear as authorities struggle to contain the violence.”

The assault adds to a series of violent incidents that have forced thousands across Sokoto East to live under constant threat, with security agencies racing to respond to increasingly coordinated assaults by bandit groups.
