Rauf Aregbesola, National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, has declared that the ruling government will be unable to manipulate the 2027 elections, insisting he understands and can counter every tactic allegedly used to influence outcomes.

He delivered the fiery remarks on Tuesday during the unveiling of the ADC in Osogbo, a date he described as symbolic as it marked exactly 15 years since he first assumed office as governor of Osun State. Aregbesola said the milestone reinforced his confidence in the party’s growing influence ahead of next year’s governorship and presidential polls.

Addressing supporters, he positioned the ADC as a credible alternative for Nigerians frustrated by insecurity, poverty, hunger, and what he described as years of poor governance by the current administration.

“This is the day of victory,” he told the crowd. “They cannot rig the election; we know their tactics.” He went on to issue directives to supporters, urging them to mobilise women and maintain strong voter presence across polling units in 2027.

Aregbesola claimed the current government had failed “in the economy, security, and governance,” arguing that its downfall was inevitable because “they didn’t start with God” and had acted “selfishly.”

He also predicted an electoral sweep for the ADC, declaring that by August next year the party would reclaim Osun and then move to “take over the presidency.”

Aregbesola praised his administration’s legacy, insisting the goodwill he enjoys in Osun—particularly in Osogbo—remains strong. He said residents across the state continued to identify with what his team represented when they held power, and that this support would reflect decisively in the coming elections.
