Anambra Governor Soludo Unveils N758 Billion 2026 Budget, Pledges Prudent Fiscal Management and Development Drive

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has presented the 2026 budget, titled “Changing Gears 3.0: Solution Continues”, valued at ₦757.88 billion, to the State House of Assembly, underscoring his administration’s commitment to responsible fiscal management and sustainable development.

The 2026 budget reflects a significant increase from 2025’s ₦606.99 billion and prioritises capital investment over recurrent expenditure, with a 79:21 ratio highlighting a focus on developmental projects. Soludo, who emphasised that the state has executed projects without borrowing, described fiscal prudence as central to his governance philosophy.

“It is no accident that Anambra has been ranked No. 1 in fiscal transparency, and more recently, the leading state in fiscal sustainability,” Soludo said. “We have cut the cost of governance to the bare bones, prioritising value over volume. We are investing in tomorrow, not consuming today.”

The governor announced plans to strengthen the internally generated revenue system through technology-driven reforms aimed at widening the tax net, plugging leakages, supporting compliant taxpayers, and enforcing compliance where necessary.

Soludo highlighted continued partnerships with the federal government, international donors, private sector actors, local governments, and communities to accelerate development. “We have set aside counterpart funding in this budget to unlock more opportunities, grants, and collaborative projects for our state,” he said.

The 2026 budget will build on Soludo’s first-term achievements while launching new legacy projects across the five pillars of the Solution Agenda: Security, Law and Order; Infrastructure and Economic Transformation; and Human Capital Development.
