The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a suspected drug dealer, Ogbu Simon, in Ningi Local Government Area, seizing a massive haul of narcotics valued at over ₦12 million.
The arrest followed a tip-off from a concerned citizen about suspicious activity at Simon’s shop. Investigations revealed that he allegedly trafficked drugs from Onitsha, Anambra State, to Ningi and surrounding areas.
CSP Mohammed Wakil, spokesperson for the Bauchi Police, stated that a raid on November 26, led by CSP Surajo Ibrahim Birnin Kudu, Divisional Police Officer of Ningi, resulted in the recovery of 17,500 sachets of Tramadol and 487 packs of Diazepam (D5), commonly known as “Yellow Voice.”
The suspect was later apprehended by the Operation Restore Peace (ORP) team under CSP Abdulrazak Fada. He reportedly confessed to supplying drugs across multiple markets within and outside Ningi.
The seized narcotics, worth approximately ₦12.2 million, along with Simon, will be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Bauchi for further investigation and prosecution.
Commissioner of Police, CP Sani Omolori Aliyu, reiterated his commitment to tackling drug-related crimes and urged the public to support law enforcement in combating criminal activities.
