2027 Elections: APC Pledges to Secure Plateau for Tinubu, Promises Mutfwang a Return to Government House

APC National Chairman gives assurance as Plateau governor formally defects to the ruling party in Jos.

Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has publicly pledged to return Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, to Government House in the 2027 general election, following his formal defection to the party.

The assurance was given on Tuesday in Jos by the APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, during a ceremony marking Governor Mutfwang’s switch to the ruling party.

Addressing party supporters and political stakeholders at the event, Yilwatda expressed confidence that the APC would dominate the state in the next election cycle, while also projecting a landslide victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Plateau State.

“I can give you the assurance that come 2027, President Tinubu will win Plateau State overwhelmingly,” he said.

Turning directly to the governor, the APC chairman added: “Governor Caleb Mutfwang, I can assure you that come 2027, we will return you to Government House.”

Yilwatda urged Mutfwang to align closely with President Tinubu’s administration, describing the partnership as critical to national development and political stability. He pledged the party’s full backing, vowing to mobilise all necessary resources to secure victory for the governor at the polls.

“I will stand by you. I will support you. I will ensure that everything it takes to bring you back to Government House, we will do,” he said.

Governor Mutfwang’s defection marks a significant political development in Plateau State, reshaping the state’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections and strengthening the APC’s grip in the North-Central region.
