Nollywood Star Angela Okorie Arrested by Police Over Cyberbullying Case Involving Mercy Johnson

Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has been arrested by the Nigeria Police Force Cybercrime Centre, Abuja, in connection with allegations of cyberbullying fellow actress Mercy Johnson.

The arrest took place on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at Okorie’s Lagos residence. Journalist and BON Awards founder, Seun Oloketuyi, confirmed the development on Wednesday, noting that Angela spent the night at Yaba Panti Police Station before being transported to Abuja for further legal proceedings.

“She was put on a 6 a.m. flight to Abuja this morning to face court proceedings connected to a cybercrime matter involving Mercy Johnson,” Oloketuyi stated on Instagram.

The incident comes exactly one week after Mercy Johnson warned that cyberbullying of her and her family would not be tolerated in 2026, signaling a firm stance against online harassment.

Authorities have yet to provide further details on the nature of the alleged cyberbullying or the timeline for court proceedings.

Angela Okorie, a popular Nollywood actress known for her roles in Yoruba and English-language films, now faces formal investigation and prosecution under Nigeria’s cybercrime laws.
