Zamfara Police Rescue Kidnap Victim Tied to Tree by Armed Bandits

Security forces in Zamfara State have rescued a man abducted by armed bandits and found tied to a tree with a machete wound in Tsafe Local Government Area.

The victim, identified as Abdullahi Isah Nagari, was abducted on 29 January 2026, according to the Zamfara State Police Command. DSP Yazid Abubakar, the police public relations officer, said both police and military personnel carried out the rescue operation after receiving an alert about the incident.

“This recent rescue is part of a larger effort by security forces to combat banditry in Zamfara State,” DSP Abubakar said.

Medical Attention and Ongoing Security Operations

Nagari was immediately taken to the General Hospital in Tsafe for medical treatment of a machete cut on his hand.

Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the bandits responsible for the abduction, with security patrols intensified across the area to prevent further attacks. DSP Abubakar urged residents to continue providing timely intelligence to aid prompt security responses.

Zamfara’s Escalating Security Challenges

The rescue follows a series of abductions and attacks in the state in recent months. In November 2025, the Nigerian Air Force conducted airstrikes on bandit hideouts in Tsafe, neutralising dozens of terrorists and destroying key logistics points.

Earlier this month, in January 2026, security forces successfully rescued 36 abducted individuals in Shinkafi Local Government Area.

Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.

“Our priority is the safety of residents. We will continue to pursue all criminal elements and restore peace to affected communities,” he said.
