Bauchi Police Arrest 11 Suspects, Recover Vehicles Linked to Kidnapping and Banditry

Bauchi, Nigeria – February 4, 2026 – The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested 11 suspects connected to kidnapping, armed robbery, and supplying fuel to bandits, while recovering stolen vehicles and firearms, the force confirmed on Wednesday.

The arrests and recoveries were detailed during a press briefing at the Police Headquarters on Yandoka Road, where the command presented its security scorecard for January 2026.

Vehicles and Property Recovered

Two stolen vehicles were recovered in separate operations. On January 5, a Toyota Hilux belonging to a local emirate council was stolen at a Jos Road filling station but swiftly recovered, with a suspect arrested.

On January 23, operatives intercepted a stolen Honda Civic along the Bauchi–Jos Road. Suspects Muazu Abdulkarim, 32, and Rukayya Muhammad, 22, were apprehended. The vehicle, stolen in December 2025 from Kaduna State, was returned to its rightful owner, a medical doctor at the Federal Medical Centre, Birnin Kudu.

The Police also recovered two tricycles and a motorcycle in Bauchi metropolis. Suspects Isiyaka Mohammed and Ismail Mohammed, 20, were linked to the thefts. A Kymco motorcycle was recovered on February 1 after being abandoned by fleeing suspects.

Kidnapping and Armed Robbery Crackdown

Police reported significant success tackling armed robbery and kidnapping. On January 26, brothers Isiya Nasiru, 20, and Umaru Nasiru, 18, were arrested after miscreants blocked the Bauchi–Gombe highway near Kalajanga. Live ammunition, charms, face masks, and phones were seized.

On January 27, police and local security forces rescued two kidnapping victims in Bara Village. The operation led to the arrest of alleged kingpin Abdulkadir Adamu, 60, and the neutralisation of another suspect. Firearms, cartridges, and other weapons were recovered.

Fuel Supply to Bandits

In Alkaleri Local Government Area, two suspects were arrested on February 3 with 560 litres of petrol reportedly intended for bandit groups.

Weapons and Ammunition Seized

Other recoveries by the command include two AK-47 rifles, three dane guns, 200 live rounds, 40 empty shells, knives, cutlasses, an axe, and sticks.

Police spokesperson Nafiu Habib reiterated the command’s commitment to public safety, urging residents to provide timely and credible information while assuring confidentiality.
