The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned Gidado Ibrahim before the FCT High Court in Maitama, Abuja, over an alleged N603.4 million fraud linked to a fake Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) job offer.

Ibrahim, who appeared before Justice H. Muazu on February 9, 2026, pleaded not guilty to all six counts of the charges, which include fraud, obtaining money by false pretence, and forgery. His alleged accomplice, Halimat Adenike Tejusho, remains at large.

According to the EFCC, Ibrahim and Tejusho allegedly collected N603.4 million from a woman, Oluseye Yomi-Sholoye, between August and October 2024, claiming they could secure her appointment as Group Managing Director of NNPC.

One of the charges states that Ibrahim “obtained the sum of N603,400,000 under the false pretence” of facilitating the NNPC appointment. Another alleges he used a forged document titled “Presidential Villa State House, Office of the National Security Adviser” and presented it as genuine, knowing it was fake.

Following his plea, the prosecution requested a trial date and asked that Ibrahim be remanded in a correctional facility. The defence counsel, B. B. Alhaji, informed the court that a bail application had been filed, noting that Ibrahim should remain in EFCC custody due to health concerns while awaiting the court’s decision.

Justice Muazu adjourned the case to February 17, 2026, for hearing on the bail application and ordered that Ibrahim be remanded at the Kuje Correctional Facility until then.
