Adamawa State — Two Nigerian soldiers were killed after suspected Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) militants attacked the Garahamojili military camp in Adamawa State on Tuesday, security sources report.
The assault, which lasted approximately 20 minutes, saw the insurgents set the camp ablaze, destroy three military vehicles, and seize weapons and ammunition, according to Sahel security analyst Brant Philip, who shared details via his verified X handle.
ISWAP claimed responsibility for the attack, describing it as part of its newly launched “Burn the Camps” offensive. This marks the first reported attack by the group on a Nigerian Army installation in Adamawa State.
“The camp was overrun, and weapons and vehicles were taken. Sadly, two soldiers lost their lives in the confrontation,” Philip stated.
The incident underscores the continuing threat posed by insurgents in northeastern Nigeria and raises concerns over the security of military installations in the region.
