Fresh political intrigue has emerged following a warning by Primate Elijah Ayodele, who claims President Bola Tinubu may remove the Director-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale, and the Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Sylvester Ndidi, before the end of the current administration.
The leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church made the remarks in a statement issued by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin.
According to Primate Ayodele, both officials should be vigilant against what he described as looming removal from office.
“The Customs DG, Bashir Adewale and the Controller-General of Nigerian Correctional Service need to be very watchful against removal from office,” he said.
“I see their names being penned down for replacement already, except they seek the face of God. They need to pray against a bad record that will see them out of office.”
He added that, if not careful, both men could be removed before the Tinubu administration concludes.
The cleric also claimed that several ministers may not retain their positions should President Tinubu secure a second term in office.
On security leadership, he commented on the emergence of Tunji Disu as the new Inspector-General of Police. While describing him as well-intentioned, Ayodele cautioned that the police chief would face stiff opposition.
“The new IGP has good plans, but he will be seriously challenged and fought, especially regarding the election. He needs to be careful and watch his back. Not everyone is happy with him. I see some plots against him,” he said.
There has been no official response from the Presidency, the Nigeria Customs Service, or the Nigerian Correctional Service as of the time of filing this report.
