The suspended Lebechi Mbam, Commissioner for Works in Ebonyi, has publicly apologised following his indefinite suspension by Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru over alleged lapses in ministry performance.

Acknowledging Leadership Responsibility

Governor Nwifuru had announced the suspension of Mbam and his counterpart, Ogbonnaya Obasi Abara, Commissioner for Infrastructure Development for Concession, citing shortcomings in executing their duties at the Ministry of Works.

Following the suspension, Mbam took to social media to accept accountability, acknowledging the importance of leadership and the need to accept correction.

“Leadership and mentorship come with the ability to take accolades and the courage to take correction and reprimand,” Mbam said, reaffirming his loyalty to Governor Nwifuru, whom he described as both leader and mentor.

Commitment to Improvement

Mbam admitted responsibility for the ministry’s unmet expectations and described the disciplinary action as a constructive measure to strengthen governance.

“I take responsibility for the unmet expectations of the Ministry of Works under my watch. On behalf of the Ebonyi State Ministry of Works, I accept responsibility for the observed lapses,” he stated.

He further expressed regret for any perceived disappointments and vowed to use the experience as motivation to reassess operations, improve weak areas, and build on existing strengths.

“Your Excellency, I apologize for every perceived disappointment. We will do better, and a second chance will not be taken for granted,” he added.
