Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has urged Nigerians, especially Muslims, to intensify prayers during the last ten days of Ramadan to help restore peace amid renewed Boko Haram attacks.

Speaking from Saudi Arabia, where he is performing the Lesser Hajj, Zulum said he joined other Muslims in special prayer sessions seeking lasting peace and stability for Borno and Nigeria. The governor’s appeal was communicated through a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Dauda Iliya.

Zulum described the recent coordinated insurgent attacks as a serious threat but stressed that they should not weaken the determination of residents to stay united against violence.

“As we usher in the last 10 days of the Holy month of Ramadan, let us intensify prayers to Almighty Allah and seek His mercy, blessings and rewards,” the governor said.

He also encouraged Christians observing Lent to join in prayers for peace in the state, calling for a collective effort across religious lines.

Condoling with families affected by the violence, Zulum reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting the military and other security agencies in combating insurgency and terrorism. He emphasized that the renewed attacks should serve as a unifying force for residents in tackling Borno’s security challenges.
