Prominent social media commentator, VeryDarkMan (VDM), has launched a scathing critique of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, describing it as “the worst thing that has ever happened to Nigeria,” following the recent spike in fuel prices.
Reacting to petrol prices surpassing N1,000 per litre, VDM condemned the government for what he sees as systemic corruption and mismanagement.
“Fuel price hits over 1,000 naira per litre. President Bola Tinubu is the worst thing that has ever happened to Nigeria. They lied, they stole, and they want to continue stealing. President Tinubu is a failure,” he tweeted.
VDM reflected on his warnings from early 2023, accusing the administration of exploiting the removal of fuel subsidies for personal gain.
“Imagine a place where Bola Ahmed Tinubu picks everybody from… imagine where we dey today. I said it then that this subsidy thing, they were actually looking for the best means to steal. It was even better when they were paying for the subsidy; at least there was a budget of money meant for the benefit of Nigerians.”
Beyond fuel, VDM highlighted issues in the education sector, pointing to scholarships left unfulfilled and declining standards in public schools.
“Till tomorrow we still dey cry say our public schools are failing the children. Scholarships in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s regime, many are stranded in Morocco. Education sector has collapsed. So where is the money for the subsidy that they removed? This is the most corrupt government in the history of Nigerian government.”
He also warned that recent government actions, including internet shutdowns, could signal deeper problems and limit transparency.
“Everything I said has come to past. When people doubt me, look at it now. Na the same go shut down internet…”
VDM’s comments have reignited debate over the Tinubu administration’s handling of subsidies, education, and economic policies amid rising living costs.
