
Newly elected leadership tasked with party rejuvenation and grassroots mobilization ahead of next year’s general elections.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially inaugurated its newly elected State Working Committee (SWC) in Ebonyi State, appointing Hon. Chukwuma Igwe as State Chairman and Hon. Henry Ngonu as State Secretary.
The election, held at the PDP Secretariat along the Abakaliki/Enugu Expressway on Friday, drew a large turnout of party faithful and was monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), with security agencies ensuring a peaceful process.
Barr Ukpai Ukairo, Chairman of the seven-man Congress Committee, announced that the party adopted a consensus approach in the elections to minimize internal disputes. He commended Ebonyi PDP members for the conduct and urged the new leadership to focus on rebuilding the party.
“There is serious work to be done as the PDP is poised to bounce back, especially with the 2027 general elections approaching,” Ukairo said.
At the inauguration, Southeast National Vice Chairman of the PDP, Chidiebere Goodluck Egwu, congratulated the new executive and charged them to actively engage party leaders and stakeholders, ensuring all members are involved in revitalizing the party.
Egwu emphasized the importance of member registration under the Electoral Act 2025, calling for the new SWC to hit the ground running and drive e-registration across Ebonyi State.
