APC Still ‘Party to Beat’ in 2027 – Nasarawa Speaker Hails Mass PDP Defections

Dr Danladi Jatau, Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has reaffirmed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) remains the dominant party ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing it as the “party to beat at all levels.”

Speaking in Lafia on Tuesday, Jatau welcomed over 20 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders of Eggon extraction who are set to defect to the APC. The Speaker praised their decision as timely and strategic, assuring new members of equal opportunities and rights within the party.

“This move represents another big catch and victory for the APC in the state,” Jatau said. “We must continue to uphold loyalty, unity, and teamwork to secure a landslide victory in 2027.”

He further called on residents to support both President Bola Tinubu and Governor Abdullahi Sule, emphasizing the importance of prayers and civic participation for their administration’s success.

The leader of the defecting group, Alhaji Abubakar Company, cited the quality leadership of Governor Sule and Speaker Jatau as the reason for the relocation. He pledged that the new members would contribute to strengthening the APC and ensuring electoral success beyond 2027.

Jatau said he would notify the state governor and party chairman about the planned defection, after which the group would be officially received into the APC.
