Three Security Operatives Collapse During Soludo’s Second-Term Inauguration in Awka

Three security personnel collapsed during the second-term inauguration of Anambra State Governor Professor Chukwuma Soludo at Dr Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, on Tuesday.

The incident involved a male police officer, a male operative of the Directorate of State Services (DSS), and a female officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Eyewitnesses reported that the police officer collapsed first during the parade, followed by the NSCDC operative toward the end of the event. She initially refused stretcher assistance and was later escorted to an ambulance. The DSS operative also slumped but was quickly attended to.

According to a source, the police officer was resuscitated at the scene but remained unstable and was transferred to Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku Awka, for further care.

Officials attributed the incidents to fatigue and prolonged exposure to the harsh sunny weather during the parade. No life-threatening conditions were reported, and all affected personnel received immediate medical attention.

The inauguration ceremony, which drew a large crowd of political figures and residents, continued smoothly after the medical teams attended to the operatives.
