The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa State has inaugurated caretaker committees for all 21 local government areas following the defection of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri and key party members to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Each interim local government leadership team comprises a chairman, a secretary, and three ex-officials, tasked with managing party affairs at the grassroots level and preparing for upcoming elections in line with the PDP constitution.

The oath of office was administered by legal practitioner John Tunoh, who reminded committee members to strictly adhere to the provisions of the PDP and national constitutions.

State interim PDP chairman, Belmont Dogo, emphasised the strategic importance of the new leadership, saying,

“As local government caretaker committee members, you represent the engine room of the party in your respective areas. It is your responsibility to help reposition the party, rebuild confidence among our members, and prepare the ground for future successes.”

Speaking for the committees, the caretaker chairman of Fufore LGA, Inuwa Umar, pledged full commitment to strengthening the party and fostering growth at the grassroots.

The PDP in Adamawa has been undergoing major restructuring after the departure of Governor Fintiri, his commissioners, special advisers, and other key members to the APC on February 27, 2026, leaving the party to chart a new strategy for rebuilding its influence in the state.
