Prominent Nigerian politicians have descended on Kano to receive former governor and 2023 New Nigeria Peoples Party presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, as he prepares to formally join the **African Democratic Congress.

Kwankwaso, who announced his resignation from the NNPP on March 29, cited the need for a strategic political realignment amid Nigeria’s evolving political landscape as the reason for his defection.

Among the political heavyweights in Kano are former Peter Obi, former House Speaker Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, ex-APC national chairman John Odigie-Oyegun, former Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi, and ADC National Chairman **David Mark.

Kwankwaso is expected to collect his ADC membership card later today. Meanwhile, the former Deputy Governor of Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, formally welcomed Amaechi to the state.

Other political figures, including Senators Marafa and Ahmad Babba Kaita, are also in Kano to support Kwankwaso’s formal induction. At the same time, Kano Central Senator Rufai Sani Hanga and ex-APC governorship candidate Dr. Nasiru Gawuna are reportedly coordinating logistical arrangements for the declaration.

Thousands of ADC supporters have gathered at Kwankwaso’s residence, waving party flags, chanting solidarity songs, and eagerly anticipating the official announcement of the high-profile defection.

The move signals a significant reshaping of political alliances in northern Nigeria ahead of upcoming elections, with Kwankwaso’s defection to the ADC expected to bolster the party’s influence in the region.
