Fani-Kayode Warns ADC May Fail to Field INEC-Recognised Presidential Candidate for 2027

Lagos — Senior APC chieftain Femi Fani-Kayode has raised concerns over the African Democratic Congress’s (ADC) ability to present a presidential candidate recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on his X account on Wednesday, Fani-Kayode highlighted the deepening internal crisis within the opposition party, claiming that factional disputes could severely undermine its electoral credibility.

“They can hold as many photo ops, appear on television, and spread fake news as they like, but their internal wranglings make it increasingly clear that the ADC may not even field a candidate recognised by INEC,” he wrote.

Fani-Kayode cautioned politicians considering joining or supporting the ADC, describing such moves as potentially futile. He urged the party to resolve its disputes, unify, and present a legitimate candidate for the upcoming election.

“I appeal to them to get their house in order, bury their differences, and stop taking each other to court so they can produce a legitimate candidate recognised by INEC,” Fani-Kayode added, stressing that only a unified opposition could offer meaningful competition.

The former minister also expressed strong confidence in the APC’s prospects, predicting a decisive victory in 2027. “Winning will not be as much fun unless we give them a good hiding in the field of battle,” he said, forecasting what he described as “the greatest humiliation in the history of Nigerian politics” for the opposition.
