The Yobe State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Muhammad Gadaka, has stirred political debate after declaring that the party is positioned to remain in power for up to 100 years in Nigeria.
His comments came during the Yobe Leadership and Innovation Summit 2026, held in Damaturu and organised by the Centre for Leadership and Good Governance–Yobe, where party leaders and stakeholders gathered to discuss governance and development.
Gadaka, speaking through the State Party Youth Leader, Muhammad Musa Gulani, expressed strong confidence in the long-term dominance of the APC, insisting that its policies and governance direction would keep it in control across federal, state, and local levels for decades.
He argued that Nigeria’s development trajectory requires continuity in leadership, suggesting that sustained governance would allow the party to fully implement long-term reforms and national development plans.
According to him, the APC’s vision is centred on improving living standards, strengthening national unity, and building a more stable economy capable of benefiting all citizens over time.
He further maintained that the party is currently reviewing its performance and refining its strategic communication to ensure its policies translate into measurable impact across the country.
Gadaka added that Nigerians should maintain confidence in the ruling party, stressing that ongoing reforms would eventually deliver economic stability and broader national prosperity.
However, the “100-year rule” comment has already begun generating reactions within political circles, with critics questioning the practicality and democratic implications of such a long-term political projection in a multi-party system.
