Troops under the Operation Enduring Peace have carried out a coordinated clearance mission in Plateau State, neutralising scores of armed terrorists in a sustained offensive across parts of Wase and Kanam Local Government Areas.
The operation, conducted in collaboration with local vigilante groups, targeted Daba and Seri villages under ongoing efforts tagged Operation WUTAN DAJI, according to a statement released by military authorities.
Security forces established strategic blocking positions between Dutsen Zaki and the Odare Forest on April 9, 2026, where they intercepted a large group of armed men reportedly moving on motorcycles along a known transit route.
Troops engaged the suspects with superior firepower, resulting in the neutralisation of 10 terrorists, while others reportedly fled into surrounding forest areas with injuries sustained during the encounter.
Following another reported attack on commuters along the Razat and Kafi Abu axis, troops launched a rapid pursuit operation into nearby hinterlands to restore calm and prevent further attacks.
Subsequent cordon and search operations were carried out in Suma Suga and Takwok villages, as well as surrounding mountainous terrain, in what the army described as a sustained effort to flush out remaining armed elements.
The operations led to the recovery of weapons and logistics supplies, including three AK-47 rifles, three magazines, 7.62mm ammunition, motorcycles, and several jerrycans of fuel believed to be intended for operational use by the armed group.
Security forces also recovered identity documents and photographs linked to suspected members of the group, which officials say may assist ongoing investigations and intelligence gathering.
Military authorities described the mission as a significant blow to the operational capabilities of armed groups in the region, adding that troops remain on high alert and are continuing pursuit operations.
The statement added that Operation Enduring Peace will intensify clearance missions across identified flashpoints in Plateau State to improve security and protect civilian communities.
