Bandits Flee With Gunshot Wounds As Police Rescue Abducted Woman In Katsina

A young woman narrowly escaped being kidnapped after operatives of the Katsina State Police Command foiled an abduction attempt by suspected bandits in Kukoki community, Danmusa Local Government Area of the state.

The incident triggered a swift security response after armed men reportedly stormed the community and attempted to forcefully whisk the victim away.

Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, said officers attached to the Danmusa Division received a distress call about the attack and immediately mobilised to the area.

According to the police spokesman, the operatives launched a rapid pursuit operation that led to a gun duel between the security team and the fleeing suspects.

“The officers trailed the suspects and engaged them in a fierce exchange of gunfire, forcing the bandits to abandon the victim and flee with gunshot wounds,” Aliyu stated.

The police said the victim was rescued unharmed during the operation, while the attackers escaped into nearby hideouts with injuries sustained during the shootout.

Security operatives have since intensified efforts to track down the fleeing suspects and dismantle criminal networks operating within the area.

The latest incident adds to growing security concerns across parts of Katsina State, where communities continue to face threats from bandit attacks, kidnappings and other violent crimes.

Authorities, however, insist that ongoing operations across vulnerable areas are beginning to yield results, with security agencies increasing patrols and intelligence-led missions to curb criminal activities in the region.
