Osimhen, Davido, Wizkid, Asake Lead 2026 Golden Stars Award Nominees as Nigeria’s Big Names Dominate List

Nigeria’s entertainment and sports industries are once again in the spotlight as organisers of the Golden Stars Award unveiled a fresh wave of nominees for its 2026 edition, featuring some of the country’s biggest global exports.

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen joins music heavyweights Davido, Wizkid and Asake on a nomination list that reflects Nigeria’s growing influence across football and the global music scene.

Organisers say the selection was based on impact, consistency and international visibility over the past year, with emphasis placed on how nominees have shaped their respective industries and expanded their global reach.

Now in operation for nearly a decade, the Golden Stars Award has steadily positioned itself as a cross-sector recognition platform, celebrating achievements in entertainment, sports, business, politics, public service and entrepreneurship.

Over the years, it has highlighted figures from Nigeria and the wider African diaspora, building a reputation as a stage that blends mainstream celebrity culture with broader national recognition.

This year’s nominations continue that trend, with Nigerian artistes and athletes maintaining strong global momentum through international tours, club performances, chart success and award wins.

Osimhen’s inclusion reflects his rising profile in European football, while Davido, Wizkid and Asake remain dominant forces in Afrobeats, a genre that continues to expand its global footprint.

The organisers say the 2026 edition will also be backed by several corporate sponsors, with Akong Appliance announced as the principal sponsor.

Other partners include Idan Nla Bitters, Water Cress Hotels and Nuel Smith Events Production, all coming in as gold sponsors to support the upcoming ceremony.

Media amplification will be driven by platforms such as TMY Empire, City Edge TV, Gossiploaded TV, Arems Entertainment, Daily Trend TV and other digital outlets expected to expand the event’s visibility.

While full category details are yet to be released, organisers have confirmed that the award ceremony will hold on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at the Water Cress Event Centre in Ikeja, Lagos.

With some of Nigeria’s most influential names already on the nomination list, anticipation is building around what is expected to be one of the most competitive editions of the Golden Stars Award yet.
