Bandits Abduct Nursing Mother, Baby In Kogi — Security Forces Launch Swift Rescue Operation

A nursing mother and her four-month-old baby who were abducted during a violent bandit attack in Kogi State have regained freedom after a coordinated rescue mission by security operatives.

The victims were kidnapped on Wednesday night when armed attackers stormed the Ijalu compound area in Egbe, located in Yagba West Local Government Area of the state. The assault reportedly threw the community into panic as residents fled for safety.

The gunmen invaded the area around the Solid Rock School axis, targeting residents and creating confusion before abducting the woman and her infant child.

Following the incident, local security personnel in Egbe, working alongside troops of the Nigerian Army, immediately launched a search-and-rescue operation to track down the attackers and secure the release of the victims.

Security sources confirmed that the joint operation eventually led to the successful rescue of the nursing mother and her baby, bringing relief to residents who had been gripped by fear after the attack.

The latest incident adds to growing concerns over insecurity in several communities across Kogi State, where residents have repeatedly called for stronger security presence and faster response to attacks linked to banditry and kidnapping.

Although details surrounding the rescue operation were not immediately disclosed, community members praised the swift intervention of security operatives, describing the outcome as a major relief for the affected family.

Authorities are yet to confirm whether any arrests were made during the operation, while efforts to track down the attackers are believed to be ongoing.
