Tanzanian music superstar Diamond Platnumz and his wife, singer Zuchu, have announced the end of their relationship, with the couple confirming they are now separated and undergoing divorce proceedings.
Zuchu broke the news in a heartfelt post shared on her Instagram Story on Sunday, revealing that she had decided to walk away from the marriage after six years together.
Although she did not disclose the reasons behind the split, the singer suggested that the decision came after both parties had made efforts to keep the relationship alive.
“We tried, but Allah has His own plans,” she wrote.
The singer explained that she was now choosing to prioritise her personal well-being, health and music career as she begins a new chapter in her life.
“I have finally decided to choose myself and this is a time to heal and focus more on my health and career.
“My husband and I are now separated and going through a divorce. I announce this with a heavy heart. After six years of being together, I’ve finally decided to choose myself,” she said.
Diamond Platnumz and Zuchu officially tied the knot in June 2025, after dating for five years. Their relationship had been one of East Africa’s most talked-about celebrity romances, attracting widespread attention from fans across the continent.
Following Zuchu’s announcement, Diamond Platnumz’s former partner, Ugandan socialite Zari Hasan, reacted to the development. Zari, who previously ended her relationship with the singer over allegations of infidelity, praised Zuchu for enduring the relationship for as long as she did.
Neither Diamond Platnumz nor his management has publicly responded to Zuchu’s announcement at the time of filing this report.
