LASEPA Shuts Down Five Hotels in Ikorodu Over Environmental Violations

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed five hotels in Ikorodu for allegedly failing to comply with environmental regulations despite repeated warnings and enforcement notices.

The agency announced the enforcement action in a statement shared on its official X account on Tuesday, saying the affected establishments had ignored several opportunities to correct the identified environmental infractions.

According to LASEPA, the operation was carried out as part of the Lagos State Government’s ongoing efforts to enforce environmental laws and protect public health across the state.

The agency stated that the affected businesses continued to violate environmental standards even after receiving abatement notices and multiple engagements from regulatory officials.

The facilities sealed during the exercise are Docklands Hotels, Royal Tree Hotel and Suite, Rivera Hotel, Medallion Hotel, and Daval Spring Hotel. They are located across different parts of Ikorodu, including Ijede Road, Gberigbe Road, Aga, and Owode-Ibeshe.

LASEPA’s General Manager, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, said the agency remains committed to ensuring a cleaner and healthier environment through strict enforcement of environmental regulations.

He emphasized that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility involving businesses, residents and other stakeholders, urging operators of commercial facilities to comply fully with environmental standards.

Ajayi also warned that LASEPA would continue to intensify monitoring and enforcement against individuals and organizations whose activities pose a threat to environmental sustainability, adding that facilities found violating the state’s environmental laws would face appropriate sanctions.
